I'm thinking it might be because the holes in my toilet are oblong instead of being perfectly round, and the special bolt bracket system on the seat is meant for round holes, but nonetheless, I am happy with this seat. I've tightened the bolts very tight numerous times and they always seem to loosen up causing the seat to move around. I didn't rate this seat as excellent because the bolt brackets that hold the seat to the toilet do not keep the seat tight. This seat truly does not make any noise when closing because of how slow it goes down. I have another slow close seat brand on another toilet and it is much faster to close. The slow close feature is very, very slow closing. The quick release feature is great for cleaning, and allows me to take off the potty trailing seat until my daughter needs to start using it. So I put the batteries in at 9pm so that the seat would be lit up from 9pm to 6am. If you leave the top lid closed, it is not helpful in finding the toilet in the dark.
The night light feature is great at night, but in order for it to be helpful, you have to leave the top lid up before you go to bed.
This toilet seat is about as nice of one that you'll find.
